Someday Your Bud
A Poem by Payman Akhlaghi

She will happen to you.
Some day,
She'll emerge,
In a rising desire,
Inside a dormant dream,
Beyond the midnight fog,
Before the table.
Across the room.
Her hand reaches for your arm.
Her smile echoes through
The cold chambers of your chest,
Awakening a heart sunk deep
Into the abyss of oblivion:
"Trust You to the air..."
You bud.
You grow.
You break through
The thick ice of fear,
The hard soil of abjection.
Trust runs in the veins.
Dignity warms the skin.
Your branches extend and fill
The ears, the hands, the feet.
You'll own your body.
You'll feel every limb,
Every cell, every inch, every bit.
She will happen to you,
Some day,
As you will happen to Her.
And when she does,
As they always do,
She'll be a happy accident,
A delightful collision,
Long in the making,
Never determined.
Oh, wait you and see:
She Will happen to you...

روزی جوانۀ تو
شعری از پیمان اخلاقی
برگردان از شاعر
برایت رخ خواهد داد.
روزی
خواهد دمید
در خواهشی روینده
درون رؤیایی خفته
فرای مه آلود نیم شب
آن سوی اتاق
کنار میز.
دستش بر بازویت می نشیند.
لبخندش در سرسرای یخ زدۀ سینه ات
طنین می افکند
و دلی را بیدار می کند
که دیرزمانی است
در قعر فراموشی فرو رفته است:
"خود را به هوا بسپار..."
جوانه می زنی.
می رویی.
از یخ ضخیم ترس
از خاک سخت تحقیر
سر می زنی.
باور در شریانها می دود.
وقار پوست را گرم می کند.
شاخه هایت می گسترند و
گوشها را، دستها را، پاها را
پر می کنند.
تنت را صاحب می شوی.
هر عضو را،
هر سلول را، هر ذرّه را
احساس می کنی.
روزی
برایت رخ خواهد داد
چنان که تو برای او.
وانگاه که چنین کند
چنان که رسمشان است
تصادفی نیک خواهد بود:
تصادمی دلپذیر
پایان مسیری دراز
که هرگز اما معیّن نبود.
آه، صبر کن تا ببینی:
او بی شک برایت رخ خواهد داد.

Payman Akhlaghi is a composer, pianist, and piano teacher, who offers piano lessons -- and lessons in composition and sightsinging -- in Western Classical and Pop, as well as Persian music, covering the Greater Los Angeles area, including Beverly Hills, West LA, Santa Monica, Brentwood Culver City, Encino, and their surrounding neighborhoods. Payman holds a BA and an MA both in Music (Composition) from UCLA, and he's currently working on his dissertation toward the degree of PhD, also in Composition.
